She graduated from Madras Medical College in 2000 and then did MD in Anaesthesiology in the same institute. She then underwent further training in Anaesthesia and Intensive care in the UK for five years and obtained FRCA from the Royal College of Anaesthetists, UK in 2008. During her time in UK, she has obtained intensive training in all anaesthetic specialties with more focused training in liver intensive care. On returning to India, she joined Global Health City and has been an active member of the liver transplant program from the start. Her clinical experience includes perioperative management of around 500 liver transplant patients including 120 paediatric recipients. She has played an important role in the setting up of Liver Intensive Care Unit at Global Health City and has formulated protocols for donor and recipient management in the ICU.
She is also actively involved in liver intensive care nurses training. She has been involved in the organization of scientific conferences at Global Health City, Chennai Creating awareness and promoting the understanding of brain dead donor management in the ICUs in India among physicians, intensivists, transplant coordinators has been one of her special interest and she has been an invited faculty in several meetings and national conferences in India. She has been actively involved in transplant coordinator training programs. She is currently a member of the International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS), Liver Intensive care group of Europe (LICAGE), Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA), Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM).She is the Course Director for the Fellowship in Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Anaesthesia at Global Health City.She serves as the guest editor of the ILTS education website for the year 2015-2016.
